William Contreras has an estimated 5 years and 102 days of major league service time — 5.102 in the notation clubs use, from 962 days credited on a major league roster.
| Season | Club | Days | Running total | How this season is known |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 | Atlanta Braves | 14 | 0.014 | From transactions |
| 2021 | Atlanta Braves | 94 | 0.108 | From transactions |
| 2022 | Atlanta Braves | 166 | 1.102 | From transactions |
| 2023 | Milwaukee Brewers | 172 | 2.102 | Carried forward |
| 2024 | Milwaukee Brewers | 172 | 3.102 | Carried forward |
| 2025 | Milwaukee Brewers | 172 | 4.102 | From transactions |
| 2026 | Milwaukee Brewers | 172 | 5.102 | From transactions |
172 days credit a full year, so a season adds at most 1.000 no matter how long a player is on a roster. 3.000 years reaches salary arbitration and 6.000 reaches free agency —
what every threshold unlocks.
